25/06/2007 - First testing of prototype 6

Photo galery - Forum thread
The prototype 6 is ready ! We just received the fibreglass seats and steering pad. We are impressed by the high level of quality of these parts. A little phone call to Fabrice, and Arnorld, two French expatriates, and off we are to Asilah.
The spot is a beautiful wild beach, south of Tangiers. As we arrive, the wind is a good 25 knots. Fabrice and Arnorld prefer keeping their small buggies in the 4X4, but Olivier decides to take a chance with the new Crab.
The wind is so strong that even a 1.5m kite is hard to hold while standing. But as soon as he is seated in the Crab, he regains the control of the situation. The seat has a good shape, with a good lateral hold, and the steering pad’s geometry is fine : it’s curve shape adapts to any leg position. The steering is very precise, with absolutely no play or friction.
Second day, the wind has dropped, but has turned North, making the high-tide navigation impossible. We find a dry lake nearby where we can continue our testing.
The ground is rough, with a lot of camel footprints that make it bumpy. The dampers are a bit too hard. This will have to be improved. The important thing is to test the two-seater configuration with 4 wheels. Hurray ! It works ! The slipping of the back wheels does not affect the control, even in sharp turns. We can keep this solution.
Olivier has already started the modelling of the next prototype. It will feature mono-arms on the front wheels, like on previous prototypes. Many simplifications will be done, as well as improvement to the suspension system. We have got enough experience now to pick the best of each prototype and buid a great product…

06/03/2007 - Proto 6 under production

Photo galery - Thread forum
After a few sleepless months following the birth of our daughter Lea, on the 26th of November, here comes fresh news at last : the production of our 6th prototype (or SR1). As you will see in the gallery, this design is quite different than the past ones. The wole body frame is replaced by a central beam equiped with a mono-suspension arm, and will be fitted with a fiberglass seat which should offer more protection. In double-seater configuration, the buggy will have 4 wheels. Tests will tell if this actually works ! This new prototype is the most simple, and lightest that we have done up to now. We focused on an "in-house" universal joint that will hopefully get rid of the play and friction that we encountered with "off-the shelf" parts. The forks have been engineered to allow the fitting of both standard and "Big-foot" wheels.

06/28/2006 - The video of the Transat des Sables 2006

At last, the video of the Transat des Sables 2006, edited by our pilot Sebastien Clarke, is available here.
Our proto 3 met our expectations, even though it was his first participation. But the success of the adventure was really achieved thanks to Sebastien's physical capacities (some dehydrations, in spite of 9 liters of water by day) ...
For the next raids, we will develop a crab better adapted to desert constraints. Shortly, the complete account of Sebastien....

21/05/2006 - Départ de la Transat des Sables 2006

The « Transat des sables » has just started today Sunday may the 21st, one day ahead of schedule.
Dutch, Spanish and French pilots are going to share 6 days of raid in the vast landscapes of southern Morocco…
Sébastien Clarke, our pilot for this occasion, will be the fist to attempt the crossing of a desert with a Crab.
At his disposal, a complete set of Ozone Samurai wings, lent for the occasion, and the prototype III, tuned and enhanced for the occasion.
Of course, we are impatient to get the first feed-back and pictures.
It is our first participation to such a challenge, 600 km in the desert !
For sure, it will give us precious indications that will help us improve our prototypes. Photos and videos soon on the site !

03/30/2006 - Prototype 4 is on tour!

The prototype number 4, hardly finished, has been sent to the NABX festival (next to Las Vegas). Damien, webmaster of the website www.ki7e.com, has accepted to take it with him to introduce american pilots to the Crab.
Made very quickly, this prototype marks a great advance about design and performances of the Crab.
Improvement of the pilot's position, hyper flexible structure thanks to the new design of pincers, lighter. General design of this prototype is very promising, tests will give us shortly much informations.
From now on, this prototype begins a big tour to be present at some of the most importants events in buggy's world.
From the 28 to the 1st of april, NABX festival, next to Las Vegas. From the 7 to the 17 of april, Berck festival in France. Then, from the 21 to the 27 of april, the "Mondial du Vent", in France.
After this, it will be confide to some differents pilots who will test it, and present it to various events or competitions.
Shortly, comments and photos from pilots will be available on our website!
Photos of the first tests, on the beautifull beach of Saint-Georges, in France.

02/26/2006 - The Crab's logo, designed by Chu Keng Fu

The crab has its own logo, at last (the crab at the upper left :-) ). The first step towards a real graphic identity...
A young talented web artist, Chu Keng Fu, has been in charge of it. If you want to have some minutes of happiness, visit Fu's universe (http://www.fu-design.com) and imagine what he could do for our website, when we will have sold enough Crabs to pay him of course :-) We wanted a happy logo, with a simple design. It's done, thanks Fu! We promise, we will take you for a ride on the Crab one day!

02/18/2006 - The crab at the Transat des Sables 2006

For the first time of buggy's history, a crab will participe to the famous Transat des Sables, in may 2006. We won't personally participate, at least not this year. We will be represented by Sebastien Clarcke, and perhaps by others pilots. A 8 days of trip, 6 days of racing over a 600 km route. A cross country event which requires navigation, endurance and piloting, in the magnificent landscapes of great Southern Morocco. A life-size trial for our crab which will have to prove his potential in a hard contest. Magnificent images in perspective. All informations and contacts about this event are in the official website of the Transat des Sables - http://www.transatdessables.com
For this event, which will be given a lot of media covertage, we're looking for partners who want to assocy their name to this great adventure.

01/27/2006 - The crab is at Essaouira

Since december, the crab's team is installed in Morocco where the production will be done. Beautifull beaches, great climate, a generous and lovely population ....Powerkite is rather unusual here, and buggy completely unknown. Yet, possibilities are numerous !
From 6th february, we will confide our prototype 3 to the Essaouira club of UCPA, for some weeks. Conditions over there are perfect. Wind all the time (so much that there are no tourists on the beach!!!), and great beaches. We're very eager to go there.
These weeks will permit us to continue our tests, collect advices and make some videos and photos (with our new video camera!). In the same time, our next prototype is already on the trails. A double seater buggy, which may be finished before the end of march.
We will also participate at some important manifestation. Shortly, confirmation on our website and in the newsletter.

12/11/2005 - First trial

The third prototype is operational since mid november. First trial was done at La Franqui, in France, with the help of Sebastien Clarke and with the friendly presence of Christopher Tasti, kitesurf world champion.
This prototype is a real revolution in the practice of the crab. Only a few minutes and our pilot of the day Sebastien realised his first 360.
Some major evolution :
+ more important steering angle, for better, sharper steering,
+ lower and more tilted textile seating, which reduces ejection risks,
+ an efficient suspension which improves comfort and road holding.
Free-ride enthusiasts who remained very doubtful about the crab will perhaps change their mind with this new generation !
We will lend this prototype to a club where it will be available for trial, in order to allow many persons to try it and give us their opinion.
Don't miss our video and our photo galery !
Shortly more news, photos and videos!

10/26/2005 - Meeting with UCPA

Friendly meeting with kitesurf instructors of UCPA, at the nautic center of Hourtin, France, next to Bordeaux. The instructors, together for testing new 2006 materiel, had invited us to test our crab and study its educational potential.
A beautiful meeting between 2 worlds : the world of kitesurf and the world of buggy.
All the photos in our photo gallery, with some surprises : real kitesurfers on a crab!
UCPA : 60 sports, in 50 different countries. For further informations, you're welcome on the website www.ucpa.com

10/06/2005 - Prototype 3 under production

The third prototype is finally under production and will tack in a few weeks!
The previous one had created a sensation in the buggy's world, yet used to innovations (2 wheels buggy, 4 wheels buggy, perhaps 5 wheels buggy, yes!).
So the crab is coming back after weeks of silence, and it's completely different...
Much more aggressive, ligher, handier, shorter wheelbase... Free-style amateurs will certainly appreciate it, not forgetting the friendly side because it's always adaptable in both single and double seater. Eagerly expected tests will allow us to validate the new concepts.
Discover the main design features in the specifications sheet.

08/02/2005 - The Crab is at "La Franqui", France

The Crab will be at "La Franqui", south of France, durinf one week, from the 7 to the 13 of august, under the responsability of the "Flics".
A great occasion to come and test the crab, takinf advantage of the new seats, designed by Olivier. Most tilted, they offer a best positioning to the pilot.
The crab will be too at "la Franqui" from the 4th to the 10 of september, under the responsability of the spanish club "VientoNorte".

01 July 2005 - Design of prototype 3 begins

Numerous encounters and experiments of these last weeks have added items to our improvement list.
We will be particularly careful on the seat design which is the biggest defect of the second prototype. Seats are now our first priority. We want to lower the center of gravity of the pilot, to raise the steering plate and facilitate the pilot's "leaning out". We want to offer to the pilot the possibility of using his own weight, as on a catamaran, which is our first idea. Moreover, the positioning of the seats will change. The next model will have a permanent central seat, with possibility to add 1 seat on each side for passengers ( up to 3 seats !).
The other main evolution concerns the steering system and the weight of the structure.
In a few weeks, you will discover the design of our next prototype in a 3D model. If you are interested in it, you might want to subscribe to the newsletter.

06/16/2005 - The press talks about the crab

The June issue of Kitesurf mag is on the shelves at last !
This magazine is one of the few in France to dedicate each month a few pages to powerkite actuality. This month, a 4 pages article signed Fr?d?rick Pattou on the Crab with photos shot in Beauduc, France last May.
It's the occasion to discover beautifull photos featuring double pilot action with guest star Laurent Benamon.
Those who never saw our two winged shellfish rolling will be surprised...
You can also see other Frederick Pattou photos in our photo gallery.
